Virtus and Valencia into ANGT Valencia title game
The host U18 Valencia Basket has reached the final of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Qualifier Valencia by knocking off U18 FC Barcelona Lassa 81-76 and will face off against U18 Virtus Bologna for a spot in the ANGT Finals on Sunday at 18:30 CET. Valencia finished atop of Group A with a 3-0 record as Alejandro Ruiz scored 14 points, and Alonso Faure added 13 against Barcelona, which fell to 1-2 in the group and will play in a fifth-place game on Sunday. Tom Digbeu collected 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks, and Haris Bratanovic picked up 17 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks for Barcelona. U18 Porsche Ludwigsburg won the second place in Group A with a 2-1 record, easing past U18 USK Future Stars Prague 63-47 in Round 3. Ariel Hukporti collected 18 points and 20 rebounds while George-Cristian Cotoara scored 13 points in victory.
Virtus is the winner of Group B, securing its place in Sunday’s title game with one game to play. Virtus came back from a 12-point deficit to beat U18 Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona 76-73 in Round 2 on Saturday morning, as Matteo Nicoli nailed 5 three-pointers in scoring 19 points and Gora Camara collected 15 points and 15 rebounds and Lorenzo Deri added 14 points and 8 assists. Virtus then clinched the first place in the group when U18 Movistar Estudiantes Madrid defeated U18 LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 58-65. In Round 3 games, ASVEL collected its first victory by knocking off Virtus in a game that had no impact on the standings, and Joventut clinched second place with a big 95-69 win over Estudiantes. On the final day of Valencia Qualifier on Sunday, Joventut will play in a third-place game against Ludwigsburg (16:00 CET), Barcelona and Estudiantes will play for fifth place (12:00 CET), while ASVEL will play against Prague in a seventh-place clash (10:00 CET).
