Zvezda and Mega set up date in first-place game
U18 Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade and U18 Mega SoccerBet Belgrade will square off in the first-place of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Belgrade after both teams finished atop their respective groups. The winner between the Belgrade powerhouses will book a ticket to the ANGT Finals at the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four.
Zvezda used a strong defensive effort to streak past city rival U18 Partizan NIS Belgrade 64-80 for a 3-0 mark in Group A. Filip Brankovic collected 22 points and 9 rebounds for the 2014 U18 continental champion, which gets back to the first-place game after losing in the final group stage game last season to Partizan. Mega advanced with a resounding 75-96 victory over U18 Buducnost VOLI Podgorica in Group B. Nikola Jovic led the way with 33 points and 9 rebounds for Mega, which had runs of 2-13 and 0-16 in the third quarter to put the game away. Nikola Djurisic added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the Serbian club which finished first at the ANGT Belgrade in 2019 and reached the ANGT Championship Game in 2017 and 2019.
Partizan will face Buducnost on Sunday for third place. The fifth-place game will have U18 Maccabi Tel Aviv taking on U18 Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana while debutant U18 U-BT Cluj Napoca will be looking for its first-ever ANGT win as it plays U18 Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in the seventh-place game.
