Real Madrid defends ANGT L’Hospitalet crown!

Reigning continental champion U18 Real Madrid retained its title at the Euroleague Basketball ADIDAS NEXT GENERATION TOURNAMENT Qualifying Tournament – Torneig de Bàsquet Junior Ciutat de L'Hospitalet by prevailing in a slugfest with fellow Spanish giant U18 FC Barcelona Lassa 50-48 to book its ticket for the 2015-16 EB AGNT Finals in Berlin next spring. Dino Radoncic collected 16 points as Madrid repeated its victory over Barcelona from last season’s ANGT L'Hospitalet final. Samba Ndiaye picked up 7 points and 16 rebounds for Madrid while Miki Fons secured the victory with a steal with 3 seconds to play. Felipe Dos Anjos chipped in 6 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks and was named MVP of the ANGT L’Hospitalet. He was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Aleix Font of Barcelona, Isaac Bonga and Lars Lagerpusch of U18 Brose Baskets Bamberg and Yovel Zoosman from U18 Maccabi Teddy Tel Aviv. Sergi Martinez scored 10 points in the loss for Barcelona and Pol Figueras had 9 points. The reigning AGNT Finals champion Madrid moves onto ANGT Finals and joins U18 Mega Leks Belgrade, which won the EB ANGT Qualifying Tournament - Torneo Citta di Roma. Madrid and Mega will be joined in Berlin by the winners of the two other qualifying tournaments: ANGT Kaunas, January 15 to 17; and ANGT Belgrade, February 26 to 28.

In earlier placement games, host club U18 Torrons Vicens L’Hospitalet completed a successful tournament in 5th place by beating former continental champion U18 FIATC Joventut Badalona 82-73 in overtime. Elies Velasco led the way with 15 points while Daniel Garcia collected 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Alejandro Galan tallied 18 points in the loss for Joventut. U18 Baloncesto Seville picked up 7th place by knocking off U18 Union Olimpija Ljubljana 83-52 as Alejandro Rodriguez collected 18 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in Seville’s first victory of the tournament. Gaber Ozegovic paced Olimpija with 9 points.
